Loved this game my 6 year old has a love of numbers and we have really enjoyed playing this together.
I havent been disappointed with any of the orchard games I have, this and the shopping list game are my favorites ideal birthday presents.
Great for teaching kids about sums May 17, 2010

Excellent product for teaching little ones about adding and subtracting.
It's clearly very educational, providing opportunitie for the children think about logic as well as sums, for instance, there's no point looking for an additive sum where one number is bigger than the final answer.
It's not the most fun toy in the world, but it makes a pretty good try for something so useful. The ghost figures on the back of the sums that react to heat (they become transparent when held in the hand revealing the answer to the sum) are a really good touch at making it interesting for children. The idea of mixing potions is a real hit for my 6 year old daughter.
After an initial bout of playing with it quite a lot, we probably pull the game out about once or twice a month now. My daughter even played with it with one of her friends on their own one time (I wasn't around to see how that went, but she seemed very positive about it).

I purchased this for my 6 year old who loves reading and writing but dislikes maths ! It's a basic game where you pick a number card and then have to find a sum card to match it. The exciting part is turning over the sum card to see if it matches with the number you originally picked and the answer is `revealed' by rubbing your thumb over the black cauldron and seeing if the correct number appears. If you are right you gain an ingredient for your cauldron and the first person to get all the ingredients wins. This is great for teaching basic maths and children will love the `thumb rubbing' trick. I have marked this down because it's very basic and winning ingredients for the cauldron doesn't excite my child and we tend to just get the sum cards out and play with; however I would recommend it.

This is a great game for children struggling with their maths, it has fun value and they don't realise they are actually learning. I would definately recommend this product!

This is another great game from Orchard Toys, I cannot recommend their products enough. My daughter was brought one of the other Orchard Toys games for her 4th birthday and since then I have brought several other ones for her. This game in particular is very good for improving numbers skills in a fun way. Since she got it for Christmas we have already played it 4 times, all iniciated by my daughter. In fact this is the only present she has played with more than once so far! As she is a bit below the minimum recommended age we just take the multiplication cards out, not a problem as we rarely play with more than 2 players. She has learnt that a + means add and - take away as well as practising the actual sums. The game is also well made and of a high quality as are all the games by this maker.
I would just like to add that I am in no way connected to the company, I just think their products are really good value and well made.
